One of the documentary photography opportunities that I've had while out here was to get on stage with the Steelpan Orchestras competing during the 2010 Panorama Semi-Finals. These are my images from the competition.
Andrea Wise is a third year Studio Arts major concentrating her studies in photography. She is the Co-Founder and Contributing Editor to Don't F-Stop, a photography and multimedia storytelling blog. She hopes to continue traveling the world and using photography as a means to explore both local cultures and her own personal development and expression.
Nicolette Jay Laume is contributing as En.Jay.El. They are exploring Trinidad with and through photographic means, as well as a questioning mind.
J. B. Springer is a sophomore student, double majoring in Studio Arts and Theatre/Dance. Her focus tends to be on community building using the arts and dealing with children, especially in education and psychology. While in Trinidad, she is interested in pursuing all avenues of art, and has begun to explore digital photography as well. She is taking 3-Dimensional Design at the University and dance technique classes at Liliput Children’s Theatre with Noble Douglas. Every day is an adventure for her, and she welcomes you to enjoy the blog to follow along!
thea: in order to get in touch with my environment in Trinidad, i am taking an art form i learned in my native NYC and collecting found objects that will culminate in a sculptural piece that will be displayed in May in Alice Yard along with Haben's performance/visual piece. i will see what i can discover about both Trinidad and myself in the context of other people's trash.
haben: I am a vocal/visual artist that is dedicated to engaging world cultures and issues, finding our common threads and displaying them. I plan on creating a small series of works(combining collage, paints and vocals) surrounding community action and activism themes in Trinidad.
